Origins

PHP started out in 1994 as an Open Source programming language created by Rasmus Lerdorf. Since then, PHP has become one of the most popular languages for building web applications and can be found in the majority of web projects.

Fact: PHP originally stood for "Personal Home Page". However, for a long time now, the name is more commonly known as "Hypertext Preprocessor".
